Experience resistance-based movement at Stable Studio in Sutton Coldfield. Strengthen, align, and stretch your body with expert-led sessions on state-of-the-art equipment.
Reformer Pilates elevates your Pilates practice by adding resistance or assistance to your movements, giving a more intense connection to your muscles. The Reformer was developed by Joseph Pilates, and our modern Allegro 2 machines, built in California by Balanced Body, have a sleek and refined design.
The Allegro 2 benefits from additional features that make it a particularly good machine for clinicians to use within the context of rehabilitation or conditioning, as unlike a classical Pilates Reformer, many of the parameters can be adjusted to account for differences in our client’s limb length and height. It is our philosophy that we should always be working with our bodies to optimise their strength, resilience and longevity.
At Stable Studio, you are able to practise on the Reformer 1-to-1 with one of our expert teachers, or in focused small group classes.
On the Reformer, our asymmetries are highlighted and better addressed. You are able to more easily notices differences in strength, range of movement, and movement quality between your right and left sides. This aspect of Reformer practise makes Pilates particularly good for strength and conditioning training for other sports. Professional athletes, dancers and sportspeople all find benefit and value in Reformer work, and if you check your favourite athlete’s social media profiles, you might find Reformer Pilates is becoming an ever more commonly deployed tool.
As Reformer work is so balancing to the body, it is also enjoyed by people who find movement more difficult to integrate into their life day to day. Modern lifestyles find us spending more time seated than ever before. Undoing the effects of a day at the desk can be a challenge, but Reformer Pilates allows us to explore all ranges of movement of the spine, shoulders and hips, ensuring they stay flexible and strong in all directions for many years to come.
The Pilates Reformer’s unique design applies extra resistance to these exercises with springs and straps – which can work to either encourage a little extra stretch than we could do alone, or to pull against us and ensure we are putting in enough effort to make a gain in muscular strength!
Almost everyone who tries Reformer Pilates will agree – it is a uniquely effective form of exercise!
